The Hydro Hotel is a 3 star superior hotel located in the heart of the Burren in the historic spa town of Lisdoonvarna, County Clare, Ireland.

The Hydro Hotel is located in the centre of Lisdoonvarna. Featuring original 19th century architecture and décor, it offers en-suite rooms and an on-site bar and restaurant, 10 minutes’ drive from the Cliffs of Moher.  Bright en-suite rooms feature a satellite TV, tea and coffee making facilities and a telephone, while bathrooms include a hairdryer and free toiletries. A long history

Known then as the Queens Hotel, it was opened in 1875. The Queens was a very popular place with English Gentlemen who came to enjoy hunting and fishing.

Irish Tourist Board

The Hydro was once called the Queens Hotel Before 1948, this hotel was owned by the Irish Tourist Board and was the first hotel in Ireland to have hot and cold running water. At this time it became known as the Hydro Hotel.

Bar and nightclub

In November 1975, one hundred years after it first opened, it was bought by enterprising Donegal businessman James White. The Hydro has since been completely modernised, and has 110 bedrooms. It also boasts Lisdoonvarna's only nightclub. The Hotel offers shuttle buses to points of interest near Lisdoonvarna such as The Burren Centre, Cliffs of Moher, Lahinch and many more.

Matchmaking festival

In September, Lisdoonvarna hosts the annual Matchmaking Festival and the small town comes alive with music, dancing and the craic with over 60,000 people from all over the world attending.
